Santa Cruz, CA— July 22, 2015 – Blume Distillation LLC, the leading provider of appropriate-scale biorefinery systems for the production of bioethanol and related high value alcohol-based end and co- products, announced today sale of its first African-based Biorefinery. Numbitrax LLC, based in Touwsriver, Western Cape, South Africa, has completed a purchase agreement and fund transfer for a Blume Biorefinery system. The purchase represents a several million-dollar investment for Numbitrax, which plans to produce alcohol fuel (bioethanol) as well as additional high-return offtake products,

United Airlines Takes a chance on BioJet Fuel
A Phoenix airport only allows cabs using an ethanol-based fuel on airport premises; Brazilian airliner GOL has flown a commercial flight on sugarcane jet fuel; and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) offers subsidies to commercial airlines using biojet fuel. Maybe these are just trends, but here to whip them into a full blown airline case study is United, which is now buying $15 million worth of alternative jet fuels from AltAir.

Blume Distillation LLC just doubled its Series B capitalization with a $1 million capital infusion from cleantech seed and venture capital fund, Climate Change Investigation, Innovation and Investment Co (CC3IC). CC3IC’s investment is expected to accelerate the company’s intellectual property (IP) filings and licensing, as well as the design, development and commercial roll-out of the Blume Distillation technology.
